About Me

Since the age of 16 I have shown an interest in the spiritual life, particularly as it is manifested in the contemplative and monastic traditions of the Christian Church. Although I once felt called to live the monastic life as a monk, life took me in a different direction. I am currently undertaking a PhD at the Catholic Theological College, University of Divinity, looking at the work of Metropolitan John Zizioulas and Thich Nhat Hanh, and how they understood the concept of otherness from their respective religious traditions. I also live in the beautiful city of Melbourne with my partner of 36 years, Andrew, and we currently share our life with our little rescue dog, Tippi.

As a self-professed pilgrim, I also like to travel and visit religious communities in other parts of the world. In 2008 I was ordained a priest in the Anglican/Episcopal Church, but in 2018 I retired permanently from ordained ministry to devote my time to full-time academic study. I am now a member of the Roman Catholic Church. For some time now, I have studied Buddhist philosophy, psychology and practice which I believe has something to teach us Christians.

I hope you enjoy my website, still very much a work in progress, as I explore what it means to be an open-minded Christian living in the 21st century.
